House Construction: Older parts of the building have stone walls to first floor level; the building now has a reinforced concrete frame and roof, with high levels of insulation. Older parts of the building demarcated with traditional render, otherwise smooth white render finish.
Roof Construction: Concrete structure, traditional original clay tile finish with ti mber eaves and other decorative details.
House-insulation: Thermal brick, polestyrene sheeting, foam insulation
Roof-insulation: Polestyrene sheeting and foam; in most of the house there are false ceilings with decorative wooden beams beneath the concrete construction.

Heating-water: Solar array with 900l capacity, 80kw biomass boiler also tops up water temperature, gas boiler back up if required.
Cooking method:Professional standard 5-ring gas range and oven, with additional convection oven, plus 2 additional gas cookers. 2 Fridge/freezers also run on LPG.
Electricity: Solar array; 10 panels of 123w each, 12 2v Hoppecke (German made) batteries (24v system) 5,000w Dutch-made Victron Inverter, charge controller, 20kva diesel generator (Himoinsa with Yanmar engine).
Water: Mains water. 3,000l back-up tank, with pump, connection to irrigation system. Water softener. There is a viable well on the property (requires pump).
Food-production: 89 olive trees, (100l of oil annually) 60 almond trees, various young fruit trees; pear, fig, cherry, apricot, Spacious fenced enclosure and chicken house for 15 hens, rabbit enclosure, large dog house. Extensive kitchen gardens, compost heap etc.
Income possibilities: Hotel business and sale of activity-based package holidays. Also regular group hire of the premises (up to 30 people. Perfect location for retreats such as yoga, writing, painting, photography etc.
Owners opinion on sustainable features: This an off-grid property; 100% self-sufficient in terms of electricty, heating and hot water (all renewable sources).
Fuels for biomass boilers are not only 100% renewable but also locally sourced (almond shells, olive stones) reducing freight pollution, LPG and diesel oil (generator) are back-up power sources. The well could be brought back into use, but mains water quality is very good and we are very close to the source (local mountains).
