The wooden house was constructed in 2009, above an old stone barn , by a professional builder of ecological houses .The building is 96m2 on three levels.

The ground floor  has been converted into a retreat studio or a space for activities such as yoga, meditation, courses, music, artwork .The stone walls are lined with hemp and lime, a chestnut floor, and oak shelving and cupboard spaces. There is a shower room and WC. with a ‘separate’  compost toilet.

A separate entrance to the ground floor utility room, with a 300l water tank, solar heating, pressure pump . Useful shelving and a compost toilet . A chestnut staircase leads to the first floor.

There is an outside staircase , to the verandah which spans the entire length of the house facing south .

The flooring is low glazed tiles on a layer of sand and lime,  heated by the  winter sun , and keeping the floor cool in the summer. The entire house is heated by a double combustion wood burning stove.

Stairs lead to 3 good sized bedrooms a large bathroom with a shower and bath and bidet. All the wooden walls and ceilings are painted in natural earth paints.

There are several useful outbuildings around the house, garden shed, tool shed, an outside kitchen, meditation “den ” , outside bathtub nest .

There is  over a hectare of mature woodland with 2 sources . And a beautifully constructed wooden shepherds hut is situated  surrounded by wildflowers and  trees. Charmingly kitted out, with natural materials,  bed and  kitchen area, a floor to ceiling window with lovely views. Heated by a special wood burning stove and lighting by solar panels.

Nearby is a wooden hut containing a ‘long drop ‘ compost toilet and solar shower .

In the woodland area are  two natural water sources . One from and underground spring , providing good quality crystal clear water , fed into a 3000l tank  with piping to the house . The other is  gathered from several over and underground springs, filtered 3  times and piped to the shepherds hut. There have been two surveys to  estimate if this water could be used to drive  a turbine , with positive results. Someone with the expertise or money to invest could then have a property totally off grid.

The gardens are completely ‘organic’ and very productive… with a large mature orchard with old varieties of fruit trees, fenced vegetable garden with soft fruit , peach trees, fig ,compost bins , raised beds . The area has been designated as a nature reserve.

Waste water from the house  is treated via a reed bed system in three basins. There is a separate compost for the compost toilet waste.

There is a tarred road to the property , with parking for at least 6 vehicles.

The house  is surrounded by its own land , but also has nearby neighbours and a  10 minute walk to a bakery . A 10 minute drive to the local large alternative village which  has all amenities including a school , medical center and wholefood shop .
